Political correctness reached an all-time low (or high, depending on your view) when the American Medical Association came out last week with new recommendations for a condition formerly referred to as hemorrhoids. The condition, which is a real pain in the ass for those suffering from it, afflicts half of all adults by the time they reach age 50. It seems feminists were up in arms that this condition was called by a term that, they said, was inherently masculine and therefore offensive. They proposed that doctors should use the term hermorrhoids when addressing women with the condition. The AMA weighed in on the subject by encouraging doctors to use the new gender-neutral term, assteroids.
